Just seven days now before we get on the plane to Namibia and I must admit things are getting slightly scary. No, it's not the prospect of setting off to Africa for six months on an overland journey that will take us from the south to north and back again on a huge loop - even though its the eyebrow of the rainy season. Nor is it the rather worrying news about Ebola that just keeps pouring out of the radio every morning. It isn't even the possibility of losing the Haynes manual and then breaking down in the middle of nowhere - not remembering how to replace the fuel pump.
What's really bothering me right now is, that despite the fact that we have a huge mountain of equipment piling up on the living room floor, we might be missing something. Some small, vital piece of gear that we just won't be able to get while we're away but whose lack will make everything else redundant.
Tripod camera plate screw - check; Micro sdhc card reader - check; paper filters for aeropress coffee maker - check; sticky back velcro (so useful) - check; Bear Grylls fire-starter - well you never know when you might need it! - check.
Actually even more worrying than that is that Amazon Logistics may not deliver on time. Or even worse have sent it to the empty flat upstairs, or next door or to the other side of London. Do they not realise how vital this all is now. Anyway better get that order in quick. Oh look a wi-fi detecting t-shirt - glows blue when near a signal ....
